We're Moving!

After nearly five years at Image Studios, it's time for an upgrade. Please read this page thoroughly; I've attempted to provide all necessary information and answer all potential questions so that the transition can go as smoothly as possible.

Where:

The new shop will be located in a small historic standalone building downtown in the Westside neighborhood within walking distance of many popular restaurants and bars as well as Hampton Park. It's easily accessible from all areas of greater Charleston by way of the Crosstown, King Street, and Rutledge Avenue.

when:

Not sure yet. The new lease begins on July 1st, but there are some minor renovations that need to be done first. The goal is to be working out of the new location as soon as possible, which will hopefully be in early August but could potentially be later.

FAQ:

Q: Why downtown?

A: A few reasons, actually. First, it's more convenient for me. Second, it's closer for 47% of my clients--yes, I really did map all of you out and crunch the numbers. And third, I never wanted to be in Mount Pleasant in the first place; my entire career prior to 2020 was downtown. When I decided to open Halcyon Barber, I had very few options, so I went with the best of what I could afford. Moving to Mount Pleasant inconvenienced the majority of my clientele, and after five years of going out of their way, I'm grateful most of them are still with me.

Q: How will booking work?

A: The plan is to continue booking as normal; my hours will stay the same. As soon as I know the official opening date, I will let you know. Until then, plan to show up at the Image Studios Location. If you have a standing appointment but need to adjust to allow for more travel time, please let me know ASAP so we can get all of your appointments moved to a time that works better for you.

Q: What's parking like?

A: The new shop is in a residential area with street parking all along both Carolina St. and Perry St. Most of the time you will be able to find a spot directly outside the shop, but if all of those spaces are taken there will be some available within a block or so.

Q: Does it flood?

A: Nope. Most direct routes to the shop will be fine, and even when lots of the roads downtown are closed due to flooding, detours are available. Just plan for additional travel time like any normal rainy day in the Charleston area.

Q: Are you expanding with more chairs?

A: Heck no! I have zero desire to manage employees ever. Multiple chairs adds to the noise and chaos, and with Halcyon Barber I've done my best to create an environment that's relaxing and peaceful. I plan to keep it that way. Plus, most of you have come to appreciate the one on one experience and privacy.

Q: What's nearby?

A: Within just a few short blocks, you will find The Recovery Room, The Daily, Daps Breakfast & Imbibe, Graft Wine Shop, Leon's Oysters, Melfi's, Little Jack's Tavern, Sugey's, Coastal Climbing, Maison, Tutti's Pizza, Renzo, Huriyali Gardens, The Faculty Lounge, Berkely's, D'Allesandro's Pizza, Cutty's, Vern's, Chubby Fish, Elliotborough Mini Bar, and more! Even better, access for the pedestrian overpass is just a block away, making your walk to anything on the other side of the Crosstown much safer.

Q: What if I have more questions?

A: If you could save them for in person at your next appointment, that would be ideal, but if you don't think you will be seeing me until after the move, please text me about anything I didn't cover here.
